Description
Sweet notes dominated the nose as toffee, fudge and molasses merged with sweet cake mix and layers of marzipan. Next, tropical aromas of ripe banana and coconut brought creamy textures that suggested vanilla custard and beeswax. The palate pursued a theme of coconut cream and vanilla icing, now developing into caramel doughnuts before a tingle of English mustard and pickle joined the table. With water we found pots of chamomile and peppermint tea along with vanilla sponge cake and fruit scones lavishly heaped with raspberry jam and clotted cream. Chocolate truffles and bruised apples framed the finish before being joined by Caribbean rum and fine armagnac.
