Description
The nose was interesting, even peculiar, but very attractive – a rainbow of fruits (including candied peel and pineapple), an indulgent spread of cakes and sweet fancies (featuring white chocolate and vanilla) and suggestions of musky incense. The palate was beautifully sweet and fruity, with a developing citric tang and tongue-tingling liveliness – orange cordial, barley sugars, apple sours, fresh ginger, popping candy and sawdust. The reduced nose was an assortment of fruit baskets and Yankee candles in a painted room. The palate was now luscious, succulent and comforting – juicy blood orange and fruit punch with gentle intimations of pickled ginger and oak.
