Description
The nose is elegant calligraphy embellished with fruity flourishes (stone fruits, orchard fruits, rhubarb, banana) and candy-coated curlicues (honey, golden syrup, chocolate ice-cream) – but the content is a story of oak, spinning tales of coconut, camphor, hemp sacks and mahogany wood. The palate develops similarly – silky smooth mouth-feel and fine flavours or orange sponge cake, vanilla, dark chocolate and mango – but the substructure is solid as a plank (ginger snaps, chilli, coconut, pencil shavings). Adding water doesn’t alter it much – the nose seems fruitier (key lime pie) and more floral (roses, heather) while the palate displays increased vanilla sweetness (banoffee pie, fudge).
