Description
A braw and bracing aroma at first, full of aromatic potpourri, scented candles, cinnamon swirls, pecan pie and a deft medicinal waft of lanolin. In time it evolved a lovely mulchy earthiness with notes of balsamic and sticky date tart. Water brought wintergreen, cough mixtures, sultanas and cherry pipe tobacco. The mouth was superbly warming and generous on arrival. Many notes of fir wood, soft medicines, waxes, putty, pipe tobacco and cloves. With reduction came stewed rhubarb, rosewater, pomegranate molasses and punchy Irish coffee. Matured in a bourbon hogshead for 8 years before transfer to a 1st fill oloroso sherry hogshead.
